Making a difference

In February of this year, Sally travelled to Uganda in East Africa to spend time with the staff, students and families of the Namuwongo Community Foundation in Kampala. 

Known as NCF, the organisation is a Ugandan charity, located metres away from the slum community of Namuwongo. NCF provides schooling, medical care, financial and nutritional support, as well as social care and career retraining for families. 

NCF  provide each of the students with a meal every day, school uniform, primary and secondary education to GCSE level, medical care from an onsite nurse, and support including counselling through the onsite social worker. 

During her time with NCF, Sally met many of the hard-working students and their families, visiting the nearby community. She met brave and beautiful children who had been rescued from forced marriage, sweet and kind children who had been abandoned by their parents, deeply impacted children who had endured and witnessed domestic violence and many who were living in abject poverty. It was overwhelming to witness the suffering of so many children, and yet utterly inspiring to see the determination, talents and hopes of the students, who all attended the school with gratitude and dedication.

With so much need and so little resources, NCF rely on the support of the UK charity, Friends of NCF, who work tirelessly to raise money for the staff, students and families of NCF and for the large Namuwongo community, which still is home to many children who are unable to access education which is not free in Uganda. The dream is for NCF to continue, expand and provide education to A’Level and beyond, for the NCF Medical Centre to grow and for many more children to access the support of the organisation.

Here at Hope Law, our hearts now belong to the Namuwongo Community. For this reason, it is our privilege to be supporting Friends of NCF until March 2027.

So the question is, can you help?

Can you spare £12 to buy an inhaler for a child with asthma who lives at the heart of the Uganda charcoal-burning industry?

Can you spare as little as £35 to pay for food for a family for a whole month? 

It costs only £50 to pay a teacher at NCF for a month…can you give that ?

Or perhaps you can spare £130 to allow a mother to escape from prostitution, return to her children and be trained as a seamstress?

It all makes a difference, so please give whatever you can.
