Our chosen organisation for February & March is…
Established in 2007, Friends of Namuwongo Community Foundation, supports the Namuwongo Community Foundation (NCF) in Kampala, Uganda. The Foundation, an independent, non-government organisation run by a Ugandan board of directors, provide a wonderful school for local children who live nearby in the slum community adjacent, as well as providing finance for the education and training of some of the children as they progress through Secondary and Further Education.
The Foundation also ventures out into the community, providing food parcels and going even further by providing re-training and education for parents, in order that they are able to better support their families.
The Friends of NCF, based in the UK, raise funds so that all staff are paid a salary, including a social worker, who is employed to support the children and families in their homes and to work with the mothers so that the education the children receive is not wasted but is fully supported when they are at home.
A new project to build another classroom for the youngest members of the community needs funds, and so our hope, here at Hope Law, is that our donations will help towards the completion of this really special classroom.
